glory to god on high
architect of universe world planner
lovely god lovely pet lovely garden
oh the day shows the way
dew and drop and shell and brook
the web shudders and vibrates touch sensitive
as all things come and go
as all things exist and fade
yet each is registered and has played a part
the flight of the crane
the path of the comet
the way of the lion that fears nothing
let me follow you oh god wherever you are wherever you go
to your sanctuary which is warm and dark like a shop in the old days
there you will turn back time
and i as a child enveloped in that smell of lollies
and i as a free spirit before all this stuff held me down
and i will follow you through groves of sunlit oaks
down to a pounding grey sea where we will defeat the enemy
and amidst crystal pools of golden fish meditating on serenity
i swoon at the mention of any of your secret names
i see your hand in the explosion of luxuriant bloom
i mark your number down and i call it often
sometimes you just don’t answer and i wonder why that is
but i leave a message and sometimes it seems to make sense
good things happen often and bad things only rarely
eventually tho’ we all must suffer
the necessity of this will be clear one day ( i’m sure )
i dunno
a mystery unravels before our eyes
paradoxes are reconciled
and dear lost friends will be reunited
may it be so for everyone!
may good things come and let all have respite
wouldn’t that be nice….?

many years ago i learnt what it means to be devotional to the universe, to god, it was something you had written or said in an interview, it was said as some sort of throw away line, not a big deal, just some comment but it stayed with me, it’s still there.
that’s something i am very grateful for.
That is His promise SK….
Yes, it IS nice…(!)
We are in the New World now, if u decide it to be…
You decide it, then it manifests accordingly…
That’s a nice line :
“may good things come and let all have respite, wouldn’t that be nice….?”
Yes- it sure would….

I like this god better than the last one you described and I reckon this one is closer to what you really think about god. But I could be wrong.
Not sure why his sanctuary would be dark though.
Happy are children for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, they haven’t yet become so weighed down with “stuff”. We must become more child-like again.
Into each life a little rain must fall, suffering makes the soul grow stronger.
Jesus said – Let he that seeks not cease seeking until he finds, and when he finds he shall be troubled, then he shall marvel and reign over the totality and find repose.
May goodness and kindness follow us all the days of our lives, yes that would be nice.
That’s how I like to think of death – respite. ‘Reunion with friends’ also a kind of reconciliation with self becoming selflessness? Paradoxes cancelled, mysteries obvious but not even any need for embarrassment over our ignorance. That would be great. Actually, I don’t know either, except that I read once that God only reveals to us what he wants us to know…
Long time reader, first time commentor. Just gotta say you articulate the meaning of life as no one else. Rock on……….
thanks heidi
Beautiful and yes it will be nice
this reminds me of some of your Earthed poems
looking forward to the new edition book
will new poems like this be included?
I just sold a bunch of garbage on E-Bay
in anticipation of the time being store
heres to more good things
Take care Steve
The need to please
Its so ingrained I the modern party giver
Deep psychic pain
Many people simply avoid this pain
By never hosting anything bigger than a chicken in a box for four
those that contemplate a more bigger soiree
On the surface it seems silly doesn’t it
I mean parties work,
oh so nice.
i see them in the silver linings
glimpses of old friends, shining
and staring back at me through eternity
and they let me know they’re there quietly
through numbers, non-coincidence, and energy
that fuels the things that surround me like technology
and some i haven’t see for a long time and i miss them dearly
see – you just answered (quite eloquently too/less than 500 words): faith. that is god. who else asks those questions of us? besides, who lets us ask questions nobody else knows the answers to? by the way: lions do feel fear, they just overpower it within themselves and continue. it’s a really good part of their character.
Apotheca
Oh mommy, you left me here
Went off to some bright blue beyond
Fuzzy white clouds and angel song
So they say
Oh mommy, it’s hard to get on
By myself with so much to say
Detritus of life gets in my way
So I say
Stranded here in Apotheca
Trying to touch all that matters
Glass encased in uncertainty
Wait for the day when it shatters
Oh mommy, my place is a mess
Motivation escapes me sometimes
But my soul’s clean and it’s so sublime
At least today
Oh mommy, it’s not enough
And I don’t know how much time is left
I’ve gotta give my life before my death
That’s my way
Stranded here in Apotheca
All my goals must come from within
Glass encased in uncertainty
Wait for the day I begin
Oh mommy, I’ve said enough
Then again I’ve said nothing to them
All the people not just all my friends
And I pray
Oh mommy, I know you’re there
What gifts I have from you and from God
I need to share it all, do ya think that’s odd?
No you say
Stranded here in Apotheca
Can’t stand to see a soul in pain
No act of love is ever in vain
Stranded here in Apotheca
All together yet all alone
Glass encased in uncertainty
Waiting to throw that stone.
Ok, got it! Verse is A-A-E-A. Chorus is G-A-G-C-A.
W00t!! Where’s that confounded bridge? I need to take a songwriting class…utterly clueless as to how to get it out of my head and into reality.
Shit, I can’t even tune a guitar by ear. Thank God there’s an app for that! Duh!
Death is just a transformation. Listening to “Life Somewhere Else”. You and Jeffrey Cain create impeccable, dreamy and profound music. Plaudits Sk for being a vegetarian/vegan for 40 years. Thats a few years more than MACCA has been one.
Haven’t had beef, chicken or pork for a month now…feel the same physically (well, a bit more regular, but TMI!), but mentally, a definite lack of stress. The dying animal passes along its fear in its meat. I know this to be a fact.
exactly
The intricacies of the inner workings of the flea mirrors the universe in its entirety. Your mention of the child in the shop prompts that rebirth is refreshed and brings back simpler times to accommodate healing and love.
That from the fool that I am!
Yes it would….
Beautifully wriiten.
Cheers
Easter is the time of new beginnings , you have new beginnings in our life . You only get what you can handle even school holidays ! Girls & making life work sk I don’t have to tell you do I. Hang in there you have your beliefs old and new pass them on it’s the only right thing you can do and stay true. Got your back ok.
Saw a report on MSNBC last weekend, talking about beef and chicken “production” apparently cows were meant to eat grass, but they feed them grain for “higher yield”, so the cows are always sick – so they have to pump them with antibiotics and who knows what else…same for chickens, who live in filthy conditions…that stuff is IN what we eat.
The cruelty factor can be pushed to the back of the mind when you grab a pre-packed item from the store (was guilty of that for a long time), but now I think about how toxic the stuff really is…I am sure that seafood (and dairy!) is no better, but taking it a step at a time. This time, I will NOT be going back.
I even worry about veggies now, and try to buy organic…the influx of chemicals that are used in the name of increased profits are causing more cancers and generally poisoning us. Having eaten all of that crap for 40-something years, it may be too late – but better late than never.
At least my head is in a good place now…will never forget the “haunted cappicola episode” of 2 years ago (aw, yeah – cappicola, salami, soppresata, proscuitto, loved all that stuff) when the shit vibrated in my mouth, and I had pig flashbacks…weirdest thing ever…pork might be the worst, as pigs are actually more intelligent than dogs. (it’s documented). **chills**
And I think…is this true, or am I psychotic???!!
Don’t care, really. Gotta go with my gut.
Kudos for your commitment! (this also renews my renewed appreciation for SK and his continued enlightenment and inspiration of his readers.)
Our NPR (national public radio) did a study of what method of washing removes bacteria the best from raw fruits and vegetables. They took swabs from the veggies and cultured them for bacteria after washing with various methods. Their conclusion was that a brief soak in vinegar water was most effective (like 99.9%) in killing bacteria. The vinegar taste goes away with a little rinse.
Thank you, you made my day.
I like vinegar. A lot. A quick shot of it cures heartburn. I’d always thought of it as an acid, but it has an alkaline effect in the body. Who knew???
vinegar is indeed good stuff!
Baking soda and water works great too for heartburn!
You’re on the good, sane path, well done! Organic produce is so much better than stuff sprayed with chemicals ~ they’re structurally different. Try buying a conventional carrot or parsnip, and cut it in half, and do the same with an organic one. If u look at the inner patterning, there’s usually better, more intact geometry with the organic one. Funny that. And the taste is completely better…THanks for no longer eating our companions on this planet ~ well done!!!
Oblivion only. Please.
Will be lovely if it is true. Devout agnostic me.
Such wonderful writing again today – just flows. You’re getting really good at this – all the writing day after day must be sharpening your skill.
Thank you.

I know people who think that once you die, that’s it…finish…..an eternity of nothing…..
I pity them…….
There’s too much evidence that suggests otherwise…
Love at ya..
It seems you are your own god Steve and doing a good job too eg your conscience and empathy. Afterlife? who really cares. Is there anyone that you really loved so much you would want to hang out with for eternity? I am happy to move over and make room for someone else.
Donna I have not eaten pork for 15 years, god they are nearly human in their intelligence. Wouldn’t be much different to eating an elephant. ‘free range’ eggs are now ‘free’ in Australia at about 1500 per acre. Imagine their stress. I only buy from local farms that I know are the real deal. You are not psychotic kid xxx
Thank you Linjo. I always worry when I go against the majority. Even as I utterly worship the “minority” whose words ring true with my soul (SK). I’ve crossed the Rubicon this time, meat makes me shudder. Still diggin’ fish (not the shellies – ew! spiders!!), but the fin guys. I hope for some insight soon. This can only come from within, and I have faith that it will.
I’m all at sea over the idea of God. I suspect there is a higher power/consciousness. I’ve actually had some experiences that suggest it, but I’m deeply skeptical of how humans anthropomorphize this higher power. Strange how God has an ego and requires worship and obedience just like some autocrat. The concept of God as it is almost always used, I think, is a tool of oppression, an instrument of conformity. When people ask if you believe in God, what they’re really asking is, “Are you one of us?” They want to know if you subscribe to their set of prejudices. Genuine inquiry into the divine is extremely rare. I believe that there’s something deeply profound going on in the universe (or multiverse), but the degree to which any religion claims to know what it’s all about is inversely proportional to how much it actually knows. At the core of many religions is some tiny sliver of genuine insight – a small spec of the greater cosmic truth that rung true to some ancient wise men and so was enshrined and embellished. Now it’s paraded about to awe and cower the masses. It’s enslaved like some captured divine beast to serve an earthly purpose. The corruption of human society happens almost instantly to divine knowledge. This is why internal inquiry is the only possible path to enlightenment, IMO.
we need to anthropomorphise em to understand em sk
its ok to do so…i think…
The universe is a metaphor pointing to a greater reality…the universe is poetry or it is nothing.
I really love this writing today Steve! Made my weekend!
@Steven Krut 17 April….you have it exactly, man…the God I have come to know loves the questions more than the answers…loves ‘the searcher’ more than ‘the certain.’ Would differ from you in the ‘tiny sliver’ comment though. Many religions have huge swathes of genuine insight. It’s just that many of their practitioners become impoverished reflections of the founder. But, hey, we are only human…’least I am.
Plus….many of the names for, and descriptions of, God are not anthropomorphic…eg. ‘Ligh’t; ‘Creator’; ‘Love’; ‘Truth’; ‘Guide’; ‘Wisdom’….and one of my fav’s…’Ground of Being.’
