Very looking forward to ‘You are everything’. While I think of it, I wanted to buy ‘After everything now this’ from futura but I couldn’t, so will have to look somewhere else, am still catching up… read your short story last night from ‘A song for the road’. A good read, actually an effortless read, quite compelling which is funny since some snippets are describing things like stuffing pillows into air conditioning vents. You make it good reading – and some intriguing ambiguity of course! Well, I wish you with all you have lined up. Funny, a few references to brass lately and I was reading in ‘No certainty attached’ I think that you aren’t or weren’t keen on brass. Not even pan pipes? I think I read you criticise the overuse of them at some stage, too! Still may it pan out well. Haha was just thinking about a friend’s post who mentioned your ‘I love you’ on the Idyllist poster. I commented ‘he loves us’ and now thinking maybe you should have called ‘You are everything’ ‘We are everything’ although it probably amounts to something very similar

I’d love for you to remix Wolf – yes, it’s a killer as it is (and the best Televison song Television never wrote), but dude there’s some murk going on in that there mix! Let some light, air and space in and you’d have an all-time classic right there. I know, I know, my opinion means shit & I’m an impertinent fucker for suggesting it when no bugger’s asked me, but this is just for fun, nothin more.
If I could remix any music though, I’d have at Bowie’s Man Who Sold The World, Ziggy, Aladdin Sane and Hammersmith Odeon 1973 albums – Ronson needs to be way higher in those mixes! I got the chance to ask Woody Woodmansey about this a few years back and he agreed! Woody talks like a cartoon Yorkshire farmer and he’s a full-on looney Scientologist but he said the monitor mixes of all that stuff were fantastic but “Dave mixed the guts out of em”!

I really like the idea of KK going in a more spiritual direction. I can already sense the power and beauty of this album making its presence felt in the ether. You and Martin are such a perfect match musically. I believe as you say that You Are Everything is going to be amazing.
Is 3/11 really the final stop for the church? I sure hope not. Yeah, you could probably do well on your own, but… the church is such a classic entity – a group of musicians born to make music together. Something like that is rare and precious. A respite… yeah, maybe for the best. I don’t know. But please promise me you’ll keep your heart and mind open to making more magic with those guys down the road. I love it so much!

Was hoping to buy Dabble and Magician among the Spirits at futura today (my day off), but alas wasn’t able. But I just saw Dabble can be bought on bandcamp. Anyway, I bought another copy of The Idyllist for an overseas friend who doesn’t internet shop, and a cd of PK’s and MWP’s and did I mention I bought the record bag last time (a Deadman’s Hand one)? A couple of second hand vinyls I bought at futura fit in it perfectly. I was told it could take up to 10 vinyls. Also I discovered Scott is very knowledgeable about teak (some fine pieces in there). I have to put some of the knowledge I’ve gained from MLK and Scott into practice regarding the teak… some day.
Mine arrived last week, and to me, the slightly crumpled poster is now just a humorous footnote, since obviously a bunch of us received the same, with the fault belonging entirely to some mysterious and anonymous government entity somewhere. It was folded once originally anyway, so it isn’t like it was ever a pristine example awaiting a gaudy frame, like my beautiful and rare “Fireman” Red Eye promo poster. Press it between the pages of a heavy book for awhile and it will be fine, relax.
Steve, GREAT album! I don’t know why but I wasn’t expecting too much, based upon some comments you made, it seemed rather casual and perhaps hastily thrown together. But it’s beautiful, reminds me somewhat of Narcosis, and you have clearly mastered the new technologies. The photography is positively stunnning… Someone finally did you right!
Anyway, can’t wait to hear more, and to be quite honest, I’ve been a bit more of a Steve Kilbey fan than a Church fan for the past decade, so I’m eager to enjoy another prolific era of unfiltered Kilbey, like the period between 1987 and 1992, during which you gave us two brilliant solo albums, a masterpiece (Remindlessness), and two great collaborations, Hex and Jack Frost.

this is getting tedious. Did anyone politely request a replacement for a damaged cd or poster and get rebuffed? If not, why not chill out and give admin a chance to fix your problem? Ranting and raving is rarely helpful.
My cd made it to Minnesota just fine, but I will say that in the future it would be good idea to use a padded mailer, cardboard doesn’t provide much protection.

The Church – all members are lovely and talented; the other three members are happy I hope and that they always will continue to be… you too! all of you are gifted and for you to agree with something in a comment back to that one comment… Huh? It kind of has the potential to make this blog irrelevant except to a bunch of suck ups eventually; I hope I’m wrong… but I know myself, and I never say things to hurt people – I never have and never will. but something’s dangerously off track here.
I remember a blog entry maybe a year or a little longer ago that within was mentioned about “power walking” back… it seemed like a harmless little notation w/in the topic of that blog post, but somehow it hit me as I read it that everything was changing in a negative way… like this huge chill had just hit. hoped I was wrong and just kept hoping for you and your lovely family to be happy/ignored the feeling. Earlier today I looked up/re-read some of your blog entries from 2010, 2011, and so on – I was smiling through not only your writings – brilliant both dark and light but always brilliant and poetic and full of what the universe should be. but also there were lavish responses from your readers: “.”, “donna”, “daz” too, and so many others – beautiful and everybody was prompted by you to be creative and giving without being a bunch of nasties – there was an ocassional “ewe”; but it was more balanced.
Church concerts – they will be missed… at one we had front/table seats – that evening: I sat directly in front of Marty (what a lovely man!) – [and] when you guys were all younger it was just as much Marty and Peter – especially when he had long hair(!) that every girl I knew had a fantasy about as much as they would talk all starry-eyed of you… me? At that time I had crushes on Iggy and Lou already, and this Canadian guy: Dudley Do Right — What can I say?
I thought all of you were sensational and The Church immediately became one of my favorite groups – you guys still are and always will be~ and you’re all still hunks too (and I say that in a very respectful way, but you guys really are).
Anyway…ocassionally through the set that evening, MWP’s and my eyes/smiles would meet – his smile/eyes so warm and gentle and genuine – just pure white relaxing light, not a hint of anything other than peace – it was just a lovely evening… And then there’s Peter and Tim – so perfect; each a musical genius. And then there’s you: the master of poetry and so tortured yet you have the ability to transform that torture into magic that illuminates in dreams for those who listen. once I remember having to put my sunglasses on (inside at night) during another performance you guys were giving because your own energy was so white (and I love white light, it’s the most fun there is – it’s dancing on the lighted side of the moon – it’s floating through the stars – it’s everything beautiful at once without a thought of what’s happening at the moment) it was like playing a game with a firefly. That’s the Church!
so: for you to allow/not get all over the back of that anonymous who made such a nasty comment about your long-time band mates and you agreed(?!); and then just sheer utter cruelty towards DAZ, after you personally take out/humiliate him; such an obviously true person as Daz (who you must be aware has to already deal with great pain issues that from what I’ve read are distaterous – he truly is a hero)… my tongue hurts.

If that is the comment you meant, I think it’s a bit of a stretch to see Steve’s reply as agreeing with anything except the “you’ll be fine” part.
As for Darrin…somehow I think you’ve missed a lot of his nasty comments over the years. Many here have been targeted, usually for little more than disagreeing with him or for some perceived slight. It’s a pattern he’s repeated with many people — including most of all, and most viciously, SK. Read through his comments today — these are typical of his comments any time he gets angry with SK. Charming stuff. Yeah, our Dazza, a real true blue hero.
Re: merch — hell, I always replace or refund lost or damaged prints, cards, etc. without any hassle. I’m sure the others do the same for the other merch.
hi eekie – I wasn’t defending DAZ except for the pain issue he’s ref’d to over the years; that would be hard for anyone and for that (and most of the time here he’s supportive; I just skipped the other comments he made…) he deserves thoughts other than the beating he’s taken. assuming narcotics or other form of drugs is his cause for rants – but the pain is real, nonetheless. and I just thought everyone else was aware when people are under such a dilema they can’t control as much as maybe they’d otherwise be able to?; and understanding or just ignore it/don’t post – but I’m a girl so we think that way, I guess.

and DAZ: whishing karma to become bad on people is just another way of being a judgmental idiot; you shouldn’t think such things – I cringe when people say that “karma” bit like they’re saying something useful? – it seems an alternative more socially accepted word these days(?) for the same judgment that’s so destructive. nonetheless, instead of peyton place, I look forward to the lovely beautiful blog I most often get to read and then too – I get to go back to anonymous, myself, when these others have quieted down.
if anyone saw the 2011 3Mkstrs movie – my favorite line/fave msktr is Aramis: “they deserve to… but they also deserve peace.” Though together with Athos and Porthos, the four of them (Dartanian too – good addition!)are the most powerful as one… and those ladies: milady (such physical abilities and beauty – too bad, emotionally closed and vile; I was hoping otherwise…), the lovely queen – so true and wise and loyal, and Constance… the most breathtaking of them all. Can’t wait for the sequel – they did get Milady out of the waters! (and her makeup was perfect – wow!)

Perhaps I am perverted or just perverse but when I get past the momentary surprise of words like cock and cunt (I won’t bother with quotation marks)… the imagery is really quite lovely, isn’t it.
