    SK09 –

Yes, yer back man. You've been w/ us all along.

When Thomas Wolfe published "Of Time and the River", he had to get the fugg out of the States, b/c he didn't want to read the dribble from the critics. Wolfe remains a fixture, the critics are dead.

And Kerouac. He got panned. He turned into the bitter drunk. But now, his first editions sell for thousands. Thousands.

And Dylan. The critics now all appear as fools. He will throw his Christmas album in their faces and dare them to criticize it.

Please get back On the Road, back to the States. Play your old stuff, your new stuff, it's all right by me.

    Wilfred Paradise

    Hello dear Steve,
I am sure you have missed me, pft.
Anyway, I think that the missing ingredient in alot of today's persons, is accountability. Yes dear, accountability. Let us all blame someone else for what goes wrong in our lives instead of taking stock and seeing where we fucked up. This is where your 'mate' is coming from. It is easy to do now in the legal sense. As for the police, I have a great deal of regard for them and I think it is about time that they were able to go back to the days of a little bit of a touch up for disrespect ie grabbing someone by the ear and kicking them up the arse. Softly softly is screwing society. Best wishes to you. Linda xxx

Anonymous at 9:52. Oh how I wish you could write something more creative. Anonymous, you are so boring. So lost. So sad. So in need of help. So in need of someone to listen to you. So in need of something to do – obviously. I wish you could do something really creative… but all you can do is write childish comments on someone else's blog. Boring.

Detractors, compatriots…different polarities, to be sure. But they both stoke the same fires that shape your continuum.

So I do understand, on an intellectual and philosophical level, why you allow (most of) the anon-tripe here.

The critics have only strengthened you. That’s the irony. They can’t kill The Killer. And what the jealous nongs hate the most is that – like with Neil Young, Robyn Hitchcock and all the others who could care less and simply follow their God-given Muses – you’ve become bullet-proof, SK.

Ps. “Why… are-you-still-here” … Great. It’s like an infectious song hook, playin’ in my head…

Firstly, I want to applaud you for having the strength and character for publishing the good, the bad and the ugly comments. So, BRAVO Mr K, you certainly addressed your resident imbecile’s issues, carps and crap today! Although having read the negative comment from the person known only as Anon, this moron probably won’t even realise due to having the brain the size of an amoeba!

When I first watched/read today’s blog, I initially thought – why is SK wasting his time and energy on this prick? But I then realised, that no matter how you look at it, this person is as faithful to you and TBB as those of us that visit daily because we care, get inspiration and enjoy the products of your ever expanding talents. How else would he/she be able to comment on things about you and the church from years ago??? I have to say though that your effort maybe in vain, because according to the pattern of comments, if they’re made by the same dolt, then it looks as though he/she can’t read and is using voice recognition to put they're comment on!!!

Music critics, for the most part, seem to be bitter wanna-be musicians. Since they neither had the drive and/or talent, they become "critics" in order to massage their ego. Meh…

Anyway, I had a crazy dream about you last night. I think it had something to do with those photos you posted yesterday…

  13. avatar
    Anonymous | 8 September 2009 at 3:01 pm #

Just keep doing it. You've been making the music you've wanted to make all along, so who really cares? Everyone wants to be adored and adorned by everybody. Things is, good reviews don't seem to sell record and bad reviews don't seem to not sell records.
Fuck'em. You haven't made your masterpiece yet.

Fucking brilliant clip SK! "Ninnies who have attached themselves to the arts instead of doing it themselves".

It's very easy to sit and critique but never create.

Which begs the question, "Why are you still hear??!!!"

BTW, the new songs from the last couple of days were great…and I am an old fan…

    robertmadore | 8 September 2009 at 3:52 pm #

These people's only creativity is based on getting reaction. Blaming out. Antagonizing. They're cowards. I've known a few!
Can you imagine how uncreative you would have to be to try and suck off of someone else's creativity by making ridiculous and insulting comments in their forum??
They're the type of people who are still blaming mommy and daddy for how they were "wronged" in childhood. Alway's the critic…my 2 pence.

I was just about to write something
about creativity and the lack of it.
About how we can build it up and destroy it.
About my students (very creative, but not always in the way I want!)
    About criticising and feedback.

But now that i´ve read anon at 9.52
i suddenly lost my creativity …

    ninnies or nonce
    it don't amount to much
    like a bad song
    that stays in your head
    these detractors are like
    celine dion singing
'the fart will go on forever'
    ubiquity being their only means
    to existing
    for the sake
    of existing
ninnies are the master (or mistress)of permanent mediocrity
    leeches that try to suck
    the life out of others
they are the flies or mozzies
    that keep buzzing
no matter how often you swat
    ignore them
    they will (eventually) go away
    whither and die
    in that corner of life
that no one bothers to look
    that is all they deserve
    the ninnies have not only
    got you riled
    but has us other faithful
    writing about him too
we should ALL ignore the twat

Good grief! I’m no authority on slang but if pussy means mentally weak (not sure how having a vagina figures into that) but if it does you need to stop and take a look yourself! There you are safe in your secret place behind your bold anonymous title with your hidden gripe biting and screaming like a toddler on a sugar high who’s been denied some trinket or privilege. Unfortunately, unlike that toddler you’re not getting over it and on with your life. Posting anonymous barbed bites and blurbs on someone’s blog doesn’t exactly scream to the world that you’ve got much (insert proper macho slang here).

I mean, really “WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?”

I'm actually amuzed by anon's comments because I find them very pathetic; but perhaps that's what he needs to survice; perhaps this blog is ALL he lives for. I only wish that SK could expose his true identity because there are so many anons on here; never know if it's "him".

I agree with the more toplessness and music and talking and writing…bring it on! And wouldn't it be wonderful if SK could be here in the states more often, Kansas City or not….he's always a day brigtener. I guess the blog is the next best thing to being with him live even if it isn't a performance, this is art in the making.

    critique
    by k.p. buk

    any serious critique
    is serious

    seriously

    the language
    of critique is quite formal

    words are chosen
    carefully

    the critic must be
    well informed

    or is subject
    to criticism

    critique is charged
    with intent

    and desire

    there must be
    a guiding principle

    even still

    a critique
    without criticism

    the highest
    art of critique

    words excruciatingly
    connected

    self-reflection
    revelation

    every word
    defining

    values

    honesty, insight,
    intuition

    say a thing

    is to be
    a thing

    it is
    experienced

    the reason
    why

The Church and Steve Kilbey are still here after 30 years because they have been around longer than ALL of the critics that have wished them well or harm over those same 30 years…That's WHY Steve and the gang are still here…30 years later! It's not the anlysis of the critics that keep the music flowin', it's the interpretation of the listener who enjoys that one defining aha moment…then, BAM!

I took that video as Steve actually telling us "Why he is still here, along with The Church too…" because they rule and small ants (aka critics) like you will not crush our empire, but we will step over you and move on…doesn't matter what you (the ants or aka critics) say or do, we (SK & The Church) will always be here whether you like it or not!? Building that Empire while the ants build small holes that will wash away someday or get stepped on, BAM!

    Cheers!
