be confusing too constantly changing sands so to speak,,,,,,stars from a different spot every night,
does it make you turn your head to try find the ‘relatively right’ orientation? I love how the weather cycles in reverse as well as the plug holes…..get any pics outside this church, the Church at Church, be surreal

On to the next plot of land and the next lot of eager ears
But why the heart grow cold? is it getting same old?
There’ll be lots to write paint about when you get back maybe?

Let me first say to future concertgoers:
Not that I’m an expert (my 3rd Church concert in Pittsburgh)
But they are sounding really, really, really good. Better than ever.
Sadly, I left after like the 3rd or 4th song though because of my problem
Can’t take loud. It’s not a choice. I can’t breathe. But that’s just my problem.
It is a paradox to me.

Oh – a word to the wise – it’s cash only at the merch table, and’s there’s not much in the way of merch if you were counting on it.

And DO go for the meet and greet. They are all so very sincerely nice and make each person feel important. Their obvious intelligence shines, even though it’s got to be so hard, talking with stranger after stranger. But they do. And put on their handsome faces for the camera, quite good at it.

But having said that, I have reservations. Once upon a time, I did the deal where you swim with dolphins. I think it was the Dolphin Encounter in Grassy Key FL. First they indoctrinate you about the wonderful thing they are doing, making people more aware and supposedly then more environmentally responsible, yada yada. Then in you go, and being up close and personal to these marvelous creatures was astounding.

But then, later, I started thinking about how they capture the dolphins and take them away from their families, and how stressful it is for them to be living apart from their pods in their new, small watery prison. Yes, they have their cute little dolphin smiles, and dutifully put up their noses for a kiss (then the trainer gives them their fish and they can go peuuuy later and rub the tourist spit off their noses). And I feel so bad for the dolphins. I felt I had been a part of something very wrong.

And so it goes with you guys. I can’t imagine the physical toll this has to be taking – months and months of a new city every day, not to mention the tortuous plane ride to and from. And the loudness on your ears has to be like taking a blow from a baseball bat every night. And you smile so sweetly as people line up to have you put your arm around them for a picture. Sigh.

I do hope there is some upside for you. To me, to be an artist requires the skill of a craftsman and the genius of a poet. This night-after-night playing surely is honing the craftsman part to a very fine point. But will it kill the poet?

But it was truly lovely to see you.

Well, stay strong and travel safely. Hope you are sleeping well.
