fanciful fool out the back of theatre
an enclosed courtyard
the soft breezes sing
the sound in my ears
last nites music still plays on
i get up
i go on
i get going
i go hot n cold
i crouch i lunge i stand still
i kneel i dont know why
hamilton ont
hammer town
walk the streets
at least i been here
tired ness stricks me
i must stop before

Such interesting faces you make in your photographs

either way, it's good to see you
and any entry you take the time to write is appreciated

I hope it won't be too long until The Church'll tour again. And next time hopefully in Scandinavia, too. Looking forward to seeing Grizzly Bear in concert in a couple of months, though.

File under the surreal – heard the church played in public places twice the last two days – and in the most unlikely of places.

    1. Outdoor mall in Huntsville, AL had "Metropolis" playing from the garden speakers.

    2. Taking a piss at a Chili's in Cartersville, GA "Unified Field" was playing over the restaurant speakers.

True story – I think the stars are aligning again for the church.

The garden looks nice at least.

I heard Hamilton is like the Pittsburgh of Canada. Ha! I can say this since I'm from Pennsylvania.

BTW, be sure to rock out for the VDGG crowd at tonight's show. Middle-aged prog rock fans still buy records, I think. 🙂

Yoga will keep you going. Lunge forward, deep breathe and it somehow finds you. That is the magic of yoga after a while of ongoing practise as you already experience it follows you wherever you go. When you feel a decline whether it be emotional or physical its magic just surges in of its own ago. Sending loads of good karma your way.

You look so much more comfortable up and about and onstage.
You should really get some sleep tho you know.
I know some artists that seek the altered state of sleep deprivation
and it is not so good to witness.
You look so fabulous onstage that you really should be better rested.
Rock and roll is such a health risk.
You are being very brave for the sake of reputation and fans.
But I worry (potentially I am entirely over cautious…).
So long as you know that.
    Love ya work

The fanciful fool looks a lil’ perplexed in the fist pic and what’s that expression on the other two? Is that a dare M’ Lord or is that your calculating face?

Hope you have (or had) a great show tonight and hope you catch up on that rest you need.

Interesting point made by anon at 10.06. Not the first time that your lyrics have been interpreted as prescient. I remember there being a suggestion that Numbers was also seen as prophetic.

Wouldn't go boasting about it too much, otherwise you'll get burnt at the stake!

said he had swine flu – I laughed – he said 'but I do'

found out this morning that he died on the weekend

    phew…

Well I for one am very happy you endured all that horrible traffic/roadworks to cross the border and play Hamilton last night. I drove from Toronto and my only wish is you had played for much much longer. Wonderful stuff. I think you will like Quebec City a lot more! Cheers and keep up the great muzak.

I'm getting a kick out of reading the comments from fans who have seen you play in other venues during this tour.

Steve, thank you for all you're doing to play for your fans – putting up with hours of driving, sleep deprivation, lousy hotel rooms, etc. – all so fans can watch you play. It is greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I like those intriguing photos. The jardin looks rather lovely and peaceful.

Hope you can get some rest.

You guys absolutely rocked last night (despite the grungy surroundings – wow, my first time to experience culture shock in canada).

My only complaint is that it was too short! You were just getting started and it was all over (thanks to the double bill). I swear it felt like 5 minutes went by.

So….. i was left with no choice but to book tickets for tomorrow night's show in buffalo 🙂

can't wait to hear the full setlist, after that tantalizing glimpse last nite.

    – ps – eekie, picked up the box set at last night's show. beautiful work!!!

Speaking of whining, at the Pittsburgh concert I left while still floating on the ether from my close encounter of the Church kind–about the third song. My ears hurt, I could feel my pancreas vibrating, the light fixtures were shaking. Ironically, as I stepped into the street, I heard, barely audible above the din–No, no, no I must be on my way….Go home and listen to my CDs SADLY.

Our beloved Church, sacrificed to the Godess of Loud? Can we let them know we would still enjoy it if it were not SO loud?

A quick google reveals prolonged exposure over 80 decibels increases risk for acoustic neuroma (brain tumor) w/symptoms of tinnitus and hearing loss. Intense sound depresses immunity, raises blood pressure, causes deafness and tinnitus etc. etc.
Rock bands often exceed 150 decibels. Self destruction.

So we kill the goose that lays the golden eggs? (And, Steve, I call you a goose only in a GOOD way…)

Now that I've had nearly a week to get my bearings after the show I saw, may I just say that the set list that you're touring with is virtually flawless? The choice of songs and the performance went beyond anything I expected.

Whilst listening to P=A, I was struck by how "Old Flame" would have fit in perfectly with your new material, bookending a longer piece, perhaps? Something about it just stood out this afternoon, and I had to make a pithy comment about it. Is it because I'm still reacting to what I've heard? Or am I pointing out the obvious–you can't play for seven or eight hours.
