Is this a joint greeting from you and the christmas turkey nai yrubtsa? And thank you from the cockles and muscles aloive aloive oh!
Do you remember several years ago when we were talking about the Bah Humbug painting cards and you said “I should make a line of cards for people you don’t like!”? I loved that idea…I would so use those cards. This pic reminded me of that and gave me a good laugh.
Is that a real Eames chair?
Fuck, I hope I never have to endure a planet without sk and TTB….
My sentiments exactly! BAH!
Bah Humbug, did you miss the bomb shelter? What happened Bah do tell us……the look tempts many an interpretation ? Did the girls say dad dad please get dressed up this year , but the Grinch visited instead, spoiling the spirit of commercial innocence?
Bah baaaaaaaaaaaaah ba
Cheer up bah humbug,,,,,,,
I rather like Holly-days. 😉
Happy Holidays To All !!!
…and to u 2 ….MR. SCROOGE !!!
Steve, after the church split later this month will the band’s American benefactor help to fund your future work (or that of any of the others) or was the arrangement specifically for the church? Hope it’s not the latter and that Apocrypha is still on track.
Church split ?
After 32 years of brilliant activity, I would rather call it a Church retirement.
Otherwise Santa Claus must bring me their Abbey Road album !
SEATTLE — The crowds of happy people lighting joints under Seattle’s Space Needle early Thursday the new reality: Marijuana is legal under Washington state law.
It is going before the Illinois lawmakers very soon,
looks like we r finally following suit…it will create jobs, stimulate the
economy and mind, lessen the burden on the over taxed…
Help those in pain and discomfort …grown under Mother
Natures watchful eye…no additives needed !!!
Merry Holiday New Year Thing !!!
The only thing that could have made that festive scene more perfect would have been if someone would have been playing “Space Needle”! How great would that have been…
Your Friend in Pennsylvania
(Now in Cocoa Beach)
Colorado too!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys are going to get all the tourist bucks! Happy economy (and Merry Christmas too.)!!!
“The (G)RUNCH Who Stole Christmas”. He been naughty and nice.
Soon to arrive in TTB stocking: lump of coal and $5 royalty checque (one of thousands) owed since the early 80’s…
Steve. I bought Starling’s CD and you were right. It’s exactly what I was looking for. I can’t get it out of my head. Simon’s songs are great and so it is your production and the work of the guys. It’s all luxury.
it is a beautiful records. i heartily exhort all to buy a copy!
just to say thank you to you and all the church for the gig last night. You gave so much, I treasure the memory. You kept giving even though a couple of you looked a bit physically drained (and rightly so) but the music still sounded effortless. How much better is the best music live! Even all the physical and emotional pain after it’s over is very sweet pleasure too. Regular John – I was very impressed with them. Did you justice. Thanks for all you did, I had an absolutely sublime night and good to meet some old and new friends. Great set list, liked how you made some old songs sound a bit new and different like Constant In Opal. Lots of light and shade, virtuosity, humour, fun, satire, sincerity, rock, memories old and new. I also think I passed by Martin L Kennedy but not 100% which is why I didn’t say hello… anyway, have another performance of a different kind to see tonight… I love being exhausted like this in the best kind of way. Maybe I should say that if and when I get home safe tonight. Pray for us. Thanks and thanks for the great range of stuff you had for sale out the front, could have gone mad there but bought what to me seemed best and I’m happy with that and the mug got home in one piece. Peace. 🙂
humbug.! You dont seem to be saying much of late! this man of usually so many words? Dont matter anyway cause everyone else still has many comments! What has bah humbug got to do with any season spirit anyway? Maybe in the secret corners?
LMFAO…great pic duuuuuude! So what you recommend for Christmas Gifts from the site, AND ALSO WHEN are U coming out with a Christmas Album bro? Cheers from Saint Louie, Missouri USA!
I hate Christmas so I ignore it & spend it alone so that I don’t spoil it for anyone else. But I’ve never forgotten that SK interview from the mid-90s where it was Xmas Eve and he was alone, being interviewed by a fan over the phone. Glad those days are gone, Steve.
Steve Kilbey mugs are now available!
Three styles to choose from…or don’t choose and get all three. 🙂
Click here to check them out.
Hav u arrived at a release date for ur new solo album ???
I really hope its available b4 Xmas….we need NEW music….the
current industry is very stale !!!
Hav a Golden n Grand weekend !!! Everyone’s Included !!!
Those mugs look great, I think I will buy all 3 !!!
there should still be ample money sitting somewhere in an account of yours that I sent you guys a long while ago to pre-pay for cds etc as you announced their releases (but never got) — my Christmas present to others/someone else here that reads this blog… if they don’t have the bucks to afford purchases is (calculating…) probably at least 5 to 7 cds worth of payment has already been paid for in advance/never provided — so maybe you guys can give those I never received to those that need them and/or want them for others’ presents – like I was going to give had what I paid for ever been shipped. Merry Christmas to whoever would like them. (I sent 250.00… got two cds and two downloads). Those were very nice, thank you, but go ahead and use the rest to give in the spirit Christmas was intended.
Merry Christmas to all at TTB!
welltell us who you are n we’ll sort it out
did that already via emails sent back/forth to/frm SM… up until months ago. never got any of them so gave up. I see many ‘gee Id love to but dont have the bucks…’ type postings on here when you guys announce a new project for sale… seems silly to waste the money, so give the cds to someone else who can’t afford them. that would be good. Again, Merry Christmas to all at TTB.
I hope this gets all sorted out for you !!! That’s a large deal of
money…and as wonderful.ur gesture is to ‘give in the spirit’…that’s
not actually fair for you…if there is any way I can help you…I would like
to….we can correspond outside of the blog…Killer knows how to easily arrange that
…just ask him …and let’s get chatting !!!!!!
…I am willing to help ….I hope u allow me the honor to do so….
Your a great fan of music, let’s keep that rolling even when times get a
little challenging for us …we r all in this together…
archibold barney conner daniel elton fredrick george herald igor jamieson kent lawrence macbeth nicholas (no relationship to) oliver (please sir – I want more… names) phillip quentin (Quiet pls, I’m getting dizzy… said the school’s admittance clerk; do you have a shorter nick-name?…) richard sheldon theo unice (after my great aunt – go figure?) victor wendell xian yuri zephyr (last name, of course).
and that is why I am anonymous… parents!
Brilliantly stated !!!
I love the mugs Holly but with the cost of shipping etc it makes them about £20 english pounds each….
Hi Dave, yeah, sadly they are heavy and expensive to ship, especially internationally. I’ve looked into various options for making mugs more affordable for all buyers, but so far am not having much luck. I am continuing to search though….
Would it be worth seeing if you can liaise with a overseas-based company if you were wanting to try to sell mugs elsewhere? For example, I googled ‘manufacturing mugs artwork’ and there were a few hits that may be of interest if consideration was to be given to producing mugs in the UK?
Here’s an example:
Worth investigating further, even if only to get mugs to Andy and Dave?
Yes, getting them made closer to the buyers is an option I’m looking into, but so far I haven’t found places which tick all the boxes which need to be ticked to make it feasible. So right now they are available as noted above in the comments.
Love it. I want one.
Christmas…pass…NYE…pass…wake me up when its over…thanks!!!!
if anyone hasn’t (yet), The Four Wise Men by Michel Tournier is one of the most beautiful Christmas stories ever written… though it can be read at anytime of the year with wonder. (and it cures the bah humbug/puts things back into perspective.)
What an amazing concert Thursday night at the “Factory Theatre”, superb!!!,
I loved also that you played some awesome oldies like “Constant in opal” and “When you were Mine”. Another standout was “Block” an enthralling and spellbinding delivery that had the crowds mesmerised.
I would have loved to be at The Entertainment Centre, and especially at Bimbadgen Estate last night but my daughter had concerts on both nights – of all the nights!!! Anyway at least I was able to see the Factory show.
A friend of mine rang me from concert yesterday afternoon whilst you were on, (I have been telling him how great The Church is for years) and said to me “Now I know what you mean they are unreal”
The best band in the world, no one else comes close
and verily did the church rock, on both nights, especially Fri at Ent. Centre. Some guy was keen to buy my church t-shirt. Now, had I been 20 years younger and it was a hot night and the price was right….nah, I wouldn’t part with any of them.
Feeling better now I’ve had my church fixes.
Love to you and the boys and Tiare too.
p.s. Have you been teaching Jim Kerr some of your yoga moves?
Bah Humbug to u 2 sk,
Have been up on cloud 9 after seeing The Church 2 nites in a row!
Unfortunately the wind today has dragged me back to planet earth.
Would have loved to have been up in the hunter yesterday, sure the band was still on fire!!!!!!!
Was pleasantly surprised to c a clean shaven Marty (had missed seeing his handsome face), u looked good with your hair longer too. A pleasure to look at a good looking band.
Good atmosphere Thurs nite, the crowd really got into the music. Looked like u all were enjoying the nite and glad u played a long time. Got to talk to Marty & Peter afterwards and asked Are you really breaking up? My heart soared when I heard No, we’re not. That is the best Christmas news.
Only downer of the nite was waiting for a bus home from Wynyard till 3.00am.
Us fans will go through and put up with anything to have the magic of a Church gig.
Fri nite – Ent Centre the crowd loved u. Hope u heard d n i cheering, clapping and making a lot of noise after each song. Lots of Church fans there, we weren’t the only ones with Church t-shirts on. Sure the rest of the audience have now been converted to go to Church (and not just on Sundays). Another great set list. Almost with you, is still up the top of my list of all time fave songs. Wanted to jump out of the seat to dance to Reptile and Block. Wish the other bands had been supporting u.
Couldn’t stay till the end of Devo (I was still on the Church high). Seemed like the audience was divided into three lots of fan groups. Nice of Jim Kerr to say how good the Church, Devo and Models are. Still like Simple Minds but 35 mins for the Church was not nearly long enough (luckily I saw you Thurs nite).
Enjoy NZ. Any interesting stories about this tour or probably have to wait for a book.
Take care and enjoy playing with the best band in the world.
Peace & love
I was really disappointed that I had to leave at midnight from the factory…which meant I only caught 3/5 of the show…missed 6 songs
it was either that or hang to the end and catch a nightride bus
why is it that pea brain promotors think that late shows are suitable….who are they kidding and who benefits anyway? support bands should start earlier
Well, you’re the nicest Grinch I know sk!
My cuppa tea’s taste so delicious now in my new Crystalline Rush mug 😀 You absolutely made my day and the whole gig experience at the Factory was sensational! I had a little cry during “Maya” (it was so beautiful)… and I could of sworn you sang ‘I was down in the city on a Clarendon street’ (Block) which made me think of the olden days in sth melb (or maybe I’m just going deaf!)
Thanks dear sk, hope you’re enjoying the tour, take care xxx
i love you mm
it was down in the city on a marrickville street tho!
aww.. bummer haha. well, you can use that one next time you’re in Melby 😉
love ya too sk!
When you have a young child in your life it’s amazing how much of the joy and magic comes back into things like Christmas…..being a teacher I love this time of the year and the spirited debate on such vital topics as how Santa gets into their houses and if he likes milk or beer better…..
Yes yes yes baby! Merry grossmass to one and all. Its a virtual orgy of commerce.
hello there, just wanted to say thanks for a brilliant couple of nights, they were great performances. really great to hear some of those lesser known songs get an airing,. the mugs looked fantastic, i’ll grab a couple soon.

Excellent! Glad it got there so quickly!
I’m delighted with them…they are very nice.
Yep! Click here for them.
Dreadful sorry. No offense to any xmas turkeys intended. I was just making an allusion to a past reference – which was originally intended as a compliment mind and even prior to that invited. So, humble apologies… a friend told me some of my comments (at least one anyway) are not politically correct (she doesn’t know me very well although she is a good person). I am however not THE IP. I think Christmas itself is lovely and wonderful, although some say it’s celebrated on the wrong date. One date’s as good as another, surely. Whatever. I do however find it altogether a bit plasticky, contrived, predictable, commercial, excessive etc as I’m sure many do but still try and make the most of it. That’s all one can do in this world. This year I’m going to call my kitchen Bar Hubmug. Enjoy the rest of the tour, fans and band. If I make a speedy recovery and book somewhere to stay, I could turn up at the Gong, who knows? Never say never.
Hey Mugs!…whatam-my gonna do with uh mug mugs? Workin’ on-uh hot chalk-oh-let, I’m gonnuh get me dem mugs an have me a hot cocoa yo! Peace Out, The King! “Karate Kick on through, gonna make me uh Hot Brew!”
Spirit of Elvis might enjoy Queensland, birthplace of the muggaccino. Well I think Queensland was the birthplace. That’s where I had my first anyway.
bah humbug indeed… have some xmas cheer waiting for you in ork-land… smiles all round… am loving my recently collected treasure trove… thank you… especially love both addenda’s… last track on two is awesome 😀 thanks for the great gigs and look forward to the last one yet to come… love to you all xx
