These are not rules. They are biased opinions or vague coincidence.
I feel sorry for the author believing they were rules. they are not.

p.s. anyone who plays more than one string is just showing off.
I play one string on one guitar through one cable into one amp with one knob. why doesn't everyone

That was cool, very sensible answers from Mr Ricky, and I love how his deep sounding laugh too. So that's "rock'n'roll" eh?
    Thanks for that sk:))

    You makin' me laff again.

I went to a book signing Robert did for this late last year. He went through them all there and he was able to justify each rule exquisitely …with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek.

…and Mr Ricky..the Damned were a fine band. The inspiration for my daughter's name came from a fine cover they once did.

Loved the interview and the opinions Ricky responded to the rules. Thankfully, these were just the ten rules of rock n roll and not the 10 commandments!

It's great to know, especially after the last one that neither you nor Ricky abide by the rules!!!

I caught the Holy Duo at the Oxford last night. Firstly I have to say it was a strange choice of venue, kind of like an enclosed beer garden with plants everywhere. SK summed it up best by saying it was like playing at a gardening show. Anyway all I can say is I am stoked to be living in Perth at the moment. We are getting pretty spoilt having these guys play every 6 months or so. They have added another guitarist and Mr Ricky was playing a Gibson 12 this time so we had 40 strings pumping away on stage. They started with Providence, man I love that song, and played a lot of the same songs from last years set eg Comedown, Ancient World, Wolfe, Buffalo, Under The Milky Way and The Unguarded Moment. They also added Space Saviour to the list which was a bonus. After the show, I spoke to Mr Ricky for a while, what a cool cool guy. Then headed to the merch table and maybe too many pints and too much jazz was to blame but I just started rambling at SK. Jeepers I could see him almost having a beam me up scotty moment! Anyway I did manage to pick up painkiller and make a donation to the blog. All in all a great night.

I feel a lot better now. My friend reminded me that last night he asked SK whether he liked his shoes. As least I wasn’t that tipsy.

    mojo there was….

hmmm, some very interesting points made, dunno about some of the rules, though….

is there any way that us schmucks who are not fortunate enough to make it to one of your u.s. concerts will be able to get our hands on the cd/ep and booklet that you're giving away?

    love always…..

    Rule 6 – debunking = Operetta.

I like the wry face commentary from SK. Just a little like Aurora.

I was more intrigued by the rapport between SK and Mr Ricky whilst attempting to tackle a 'list' of ' RnR rules'. The rule in RnR is there are no rules.

Ive not read Forsters book so I cannot comment further. Im sure there is a rhyme coupled with a reason for this list.

Speaking of lists, I procured SKs set list after the Oxford show and was bedazzled by a potpourri of songs had the vaguest of references to the actual set…Songs such as 'Glow Worm' and 'Invisible' were listed but didn't receive an airing – a dream (if not just a full blown wish) is to witness a 20 minute live rendition of 'Glow Worm', preferably moving the molecules at 110db.

I hope you enjoyed the FasterLouder review Mr Ricky. Also perhaps kept a hold of a certain CD handed to you post show and that SK remembered the 12" vinyl handed to him earlier in the evening.

"A gardening experiment gone wrong" – SK

Sound observation….the bees were freaking me out though.

I cant elaborate further on what is already in the review on FasterLouder. 🙂

Tattoos!! That one had me in stitches! Funny stuff most of them, but that one in particular.

Steve, you guys should do more interviews like that, with a variety of subjects (not just music). That could be a hoot! RM seems like a cool guy.

    Cheers to you both!

great review of the cxford show – now that don't look back has been resurrected for live performance that makes nearly half of tbc being played live in recent days – so i say go all the way and do the whole album a-la don't look back concert format – triffids supporting doing born sandy devotional – aural bliss for me and many others i'm sure – just say yes and we'll make it happen

Philosphy meets Psychology vs Trash, Thrash, Bash, Hash, Stash, Endeuvors, Maneuvers, Contributors, and Distributors, Money Managers, Money Makers, Melody Makers, Honey Shakers!

Beat Street Bums, Melody Hums, So do the drums, it's all rock n roll, so let's all go to the show! Nothing less than a Stroll!?

There's no rules, jewels, or schools…it comes from the heart, can tear it apart, depart, or start, and ends up in the ear with maybe a beer?
