the church are writing some songs in alexandria
been burning my candle at both ends
and then some
a naughty boy
an awful boy
wicked little steven
buzzzed
orbed
eclipsed
neuro-blasted
fried sizzled blowing my brains out
pleasure sweet pleasure
ah but today
the inevitable today
go australia
choose your leader
tho choice is there none
its such a pity
i could have been a real statesman
i wouldnt regurgitate previously prepared fluff
i can think on my feet
trouble is
im having a hard time walking on em
think of me today
pumping my mighty fender jazz
somewhere in a sleazy rehearsal room
love

    the event of the year.
    a wonderful weekend to all!
    love,
    andy L.

p.s. vel,’n dave ‘n amanda, the totally incomparable mr.hollywood and of course me esskay himself..
i am fine…just had tests…my heart is A1…my recovery has stunned the medics.
we are starting our own label,i am playing like a demon, writing better than ever, deeply in love, and loved in return.
but YOU can’t ignore these people, or indeed person…be honest, c’mon, even the act of saying you don’t notice them betrays the fact that you do.
    i bumped into someone today,
guy i had not seen for over three years.
this man had conducted a mindless, misguided campaign of hate against me…hurtful and pointless…even now i have no idea why.
last time i saw him he was full of venom and spite just like the fool/fools on here.
when i nearly accidentaly knocked him off his feet today…i had to help him steady himself and put his breathing apparatus back on.
yeah…his heart and lungs are fucked..he’s gonna die any day now…he’s a shambling wreck…i felt so sorry and sad for him.
whoever it is do yourself a favour…pack it in eh?
don’t carry a heavy load of hate around in your heart….lifes too short…it can’t do your soul or body any good.
    give it a thought?

andy, you’re one of the nicest people i’ve read around the blogs and i’m so pleased things are ok for you (also very sage words of wisdom)…
loved yesterday’s blog, fame, don’t know if i’d like it, it’d be a snake that you’d have to handle very carefully…

    here:

    clairvoyant, eyeless
    drinking in sandstone clay
    old circles of bears
you could have the stars and
    wind I caught
    if you would step outside

    my rape the harvest
chaparral so to return where I
    had lain
now cut, I can never declare
    beyond firepoppy corpse light
sulfur bathed, yet I do not
    drown
    reborn and stamped with inks
    lines that hover between heaven
    and earth

    you lower a magazine
    your eyes filled with
the gray blue green leaves more
that early that I once wore

have been reading your comments over 6 months.
some of them are really funny; and some of them are quite sentimental. i used to think you are actually much younger than your age.
but one fact is, you are truly one of the kindest men in the world and a friend worth to have.
    glad you are well.

Personally, I’d rather hear the finished album and take it for what it is, rather than have all the nuts and bolts exposed. I want to eat the cake, not be talked through the steps of the recipe. Etc. This is because for years I read about Bowie’s famous 1972 concert at the Rainbow and saw a few photos and imagined what it must have been like to be there. Then I saw a lot of previously unreleased photos from it and you could see that the stage-sets were literally pieces of scaffolding with planks between them. Sort of dilutes the magic.

    show, don't tell | 24 November 2007 at 1:35 pm #

I remember Steve telling an interviewer that he spent a lot of time, effort and creativity imbuing his songs with ambiguity, so he wasn’t going to sit there and deconstruct all that by explaining them to some hack. Steve referred to a book he liked a lot called (something like) Seven Layers of Ambiguity. Have to say I’m with our host on this one.

Steve, have you ever come to an explanation for why your creative well never runs dry? Or even thought about it much? Cos it’s inexplicable to me! All the work you’ve just done on Painkiller, several smaller collaborations, a new book(let), artwork, this blog, etc, and you’ve STILL got enough untapped inspiration to write with the Church. Truly amazing – you are a goddamned prodigy, sirrah!

my personal opinion, i think his inspiration is from his love, he always has love: love of life, love of nature, love of music, love of child, love of family, love of people, love of the smallest trembling of the flower, love of the amazement of this world, love of love itself. everybody has love in their own heart, but his is much more deepest, and he has the talent to find it, express it, make it into his own music, his words, his arts. thats why he is he, but not you or me.
has it answered your question? dont know why you would ask such a question, but i think before you ask, you surely has an answer.

Sorry Mr.Kilbey, too much comments today. i probably have drunk too much coffee tonight.

The Church are so consistently brilliant at this juncture I think it’s difficult for them to render what songs belong on their albums. I am referring to the flawlessly dynamic “Beside Yourself” that were b-sides for the equally exemplary “Forget Yourself”. Those recording sessions were nonpareil and replete with so many fantastic songs.

Andy L and Davem I wish I was in London from Tuesday through Saturday this week. The inimitable and untameable Jeff Beck will be at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club. What an idyllic venue and I would literally drag you guys there. Nonetheless, I Will See You In Far Off Places.

Bindi Irwin for future Prime Minister. The new man (Rudd0 must be a bit preferable than Mr. Howard.

“Not Much Of A Blog” stimulated and galvanized many people SK.

Who knows what the selection process involves these days? Steve once said that “the ones we like the least go on the b-sides”. Hard to imagine any other band NOT putting a song as wonderful as Snowfaller on the ‘real’ album, but then few other bands would’ve put the glorious Life Speeds Up on a b-side. You may be right, Brien, I dunno! So long as they keep releasing the ‘outtakes’ for those that want em, we’re laughing, eh!

My crime: mistaking one passport photo by thinking it was from the same session as another taken in a photobooth. Cue a flood of kickings and even something about ‘meddling in people’s lives’! Christ. Steve, I dunno what the fuck y’thought I was implying or having a dig at but fuck me, there’s a raw nerve there somewhere. And I had no intention of twisting it or raking up anything bad or painful and I’m sorry I did. I know y’don’t care if I am or not and as far as you’re concerned I can fuck right off. But before I do, I’ll say it again: I just got two old photos mixed up. Period.
