    forget the pasture.

    scorched earth.
    keep at it.

You know the amount of pasture used to house one space rocker could be used to grow enough produce to sustain thousands of others.

    Sorry, you’ll have to wait.

All those depressing suasage parlours. The vile beef, pork and poultry indusries are responsible for massive air, water and land pollution that increase global warming. People should not eat animals and fishies. Be a vegetarian like Gandhi and Steve Kilbey. They are related in a very distant but wondrous way.

Beautiful German countryside, the land of fairytales and the beer is worth partaking of a stein or two.

No wonder you’re tired, you haven’t stopped. But, hey that’s Showbiz. Looks like the tour is half way over. Ah tonite the sold out Paradiso, surely you gotta film that one, good time to be had by all, that’s a guaranteed fer sure. You’re getting closer to the land of the beautiful twillies, that will give you extra strength.

Bobby Flynn is going strong, been on tele and is commening a tour.
Also this wk Dog Trumpet promoted their new cd “Antisocial Tendencies” on the olde tele. It’s a great cd, love the song Antisocial Tendencies written by Reg, think you’ld enjoy that one.
Would love to c the church as guest presenters on Rage. A Spacerock show t’would be a blast.

    You take care now,

Cannabis slows people down and can make them relaxed and less inhibited. Some get giggly and talk too much, others eat like horses.

It is basically a depressant drug,

Side effects include memory and concentration loss, and lack of ‘get up and go’. Study, sport and work become hard slog.

I understand why Steve feels burnt out and tired and sometimes down. He is way more talented than some of his musical peers who are making millions of dollars. Steve’s dynamic 2004 CD “Isidore” that he did with Jeffrey Cain is a masterful marvel but totally obscure. It is far superior to Thom Yorke’s “The Eraser” or any solo album by Roger Waters or David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. The good news is that Steve is now in his creative zenith evidenced by Isidore and all the Church’s post 1992 CDs. All the post 2000 CDs are awesome !

    Actually…I loved this blog today.
Sometimes saying less tells me a WHOLE lot more.
    Cropped images,
    curt sentences
    = I like it (a lot).

    rolling meadows
    fields of rapeseed
    sausage parlours

So Steve, howzabout a haiku blog one o these days ?

    Oh, and another thing…

    Dear “Jenny Lash” (11:39am),
I’m sure you mean well with your comments, but I’m afraid I must disagree with them.
I’m not sure how much experience you have with the substance of which you speak but in my humble opinion, the old green plant is significantly more complex than you make out.

    You said:
    “Cannabis slows people down…”
I say: not necessarily. It completely depends on the person’s body, the strain of the plant, the time of day consumed, the person’s tolerance level, the length of time it has been consumed for and so on. Cannabis can in fact speed people up. Did you know some NBA basketballers have been taking it for years before big games in order to speed up their decision-making processes ? Again, depends on the person and strain.

    Also, you said:
“It is basically a depressant drug…”
Now I’m sure textbook writers need some category in which to put things, but in practice it is not “basically depressive”. Again, this psychoactive substance is much too complex to buttonhole in this way.

On your other comments, there may be some short-term memory loss but this is often offset by “long-term memory recall” (ie dig out things you thought were long forgotten).
    Concentration loss ?
    Maybe also “concentration enhancement”.

“Study, sport and work become hard slog.”
Hmmmm…I don’t really agree with that at all. You could equally say “study, sport and work become easy as the breeze”. You might like to look at Steve as a case in point (sorry to use you in this way, SK) – I mean, the man goes swimming every morning at the crack of dawn and is now traipsing all over the Continent like a sleepless hippy in combi van (or something). Is he lacking energy ?
Is he lacking get-up and go ??
How many albums does he usually churn out every year ??

    I reckon whatever he’s smoking, it’s a damn sight better than B-B-Berocca !!!

Sorry for being long-winded (how hypocritcal of me). Just felt I needed to present another view to the old:
“All drugs are bad, m’kay ?” approach.

  41. avatar
    sue cee | 20 April 2007 at 6:29 am #

Malcolm A, agree with yr comment that less can be best. SK, its nice to know you’re ok of sorts (even if suffering “vanlag”) and that Helga hasnt kidnapped you or some other exciting drama … everydays a mystery, every day’s a new tale.

I have an extensive experience with that plant
    for my relatively short trek
    in addition to physical considerations
    my personal view
    is that much much depends
    on the whyfore
    as the wherefore
    animals have been gifted
    to merge with plants
    psychoactive substances
    built into the brains receptors
    by the builder
    enjoyed and abused by
monkeys wait for fruit to ferment
    before they imbibe
hell, some of them even swipe tourists pina coladas
lemurs get high off certain centipedes spray
sitting in trees, grooming each other
    looking a bit ecstatic
    jungle cats know what trees
    make their eyes big
    they gnaw on the bark
    when the trip
    begans to trip you up
    and you are using
as a sheild to hide behind
    or to escape
    the substance
    becomes unsubstancial
    and your motivation behind
    will determine
    whether or not it’s abuse
    drugs cannot be bad
    not the plant derivatives, anywho
    however the intention
separates the whiskey and wine drinkers
    having a good ol time
    from the alcoholics
    making themselves miserable
    people villify
the substance they use to abuse themselves
    to externalise an internal belief
    about suffering
    people can change
as soon as they change their minds
    and relationships to past “needs”
    can be reformed
as is the person who formed them

    Hey ~ Musey,

    “my personal view
    is that much much depends
    on the whyfore
    as the wherefore”

    …couldn’t agree more.

Half of it’s in the motive of the taker/tripper/user/abuser.

It’s not even particularly ground-breaking to note that the attitude that you take with you as fall into your “trip” will determine the quality of your experience.

Whoever you are, Sqiggly Muse or Amusing Sqiggle, you definitely made me piss my pants with this line:

“lemurs get high off certain centipedes spray
sitting in trees, grooming each other
    looking a bit ecstatic”

Reminds me of a few years back on Koh Lanta when a monkey stole a packet of those awful prawn-flavoured crisps from me and greedily poured the whole lot down his throat in less than 30 seconds…only to have a nasty attack of what I can only describe as “MSG-rage” a few minutes later.

Keep a-musing us to death ~.

I saw The Church in SF at the Great American Music Hall. Fantastic and intimate. Rob Dickinson opened for you and gave a wonderful show as well. The gal I was dating at the time is now my Fiance and this memory we carry with us…a perfect date. Thanks for being a part of that Steve.
