Steve, I needed to hear some tunes from my fav band today… put on “After Everything Now This” to help.

Very sad day. I’m a Virgina Tech (U.S. Univesity) alumi. The worst school shooting in history occurred there a few hours ago. I’m in complete shock.

    You’re a racist fool?

SK, I am really saddened by your comments. Have loved your music for eons. Looked forward to reading your blog everyday. That is until today. You know, not once in my life have I been racially vilified about my Croatian background. It’s never been an issue. (Why on earth would it??). Not until today’s post that is, by the band I once loved. How fuckin’ crazy is that?! It hurts. It made me think…Perhaps this is the reason why you aren’t commercially successful. Your talent for insulting fans is pretty much a fine art now. Do you think by making your ignorant comments it marks you as an “enlightened Renaissance man” or a “common prick”? Your comment about “lebensraum” is no longer benign but incendiary. You give the uneducated populace a bad wrap. As a human rights advocate I would expect this tripe from some dumb-ass old geezer but not from you. How could you collectively disparage a group of people based on one night in a capital city– or experiences you have selectively remembered from high-school?

So just for you, I’ve gathered some facts about Croatia for your erudition. Consider it your very own ‘Croatia for Dummies’ handbook. Here we go: Croatians are genetically mixed with Celts, Franks and in Dalmatia, the Venetian (Italian). Yes, SK, ‘tis true, every “nationality” is mixed. Even you SK. “Spoiler Warning”…..There is no “pure” race…even your beloved Swedish race isn’t “pure”…did you know that the genetic marker Haplogroup I is found in the highest concentration in people from Scandinavia and Croatia only??? Oh my sk, could your daughters be carrying that same genetic code??? What would that predispose them to? Are you “frightened” by this revelation?? Yes indeed, Sk, it’s been argued that Croatia was a refuge for Scandinavians during the ice age….some Swedes/ Scandinavians never left Croatia and so many Croatians you refer to as “slav” are actually genetically related to the people of Sweden. Besides, the “Slavic” culture is creative, beautiful and musical. Hadyn was part Croatian. He based the stirring German national anthem on a Croatian folk song. In fact, a lot of his celebrated works were based on Croatian folk songs. Also, if it weren’t for the “slavs” you so deride, you SK would still be playing “Boiled beef and carrots” on the harpsichord. You see, a “Slav” discovered electricity which enables you to use your amps and Fender today. No, we aren’t a “belligerent” race as you so flippantly remark. Do some investigation of history and you’ll see we in fact don’t have a history as invaders. And just because the English do, I don’t assume every English person is into rapacious pillaging. My point here is that there are “bad apples” in every batch. On the whole, I’m proud of my Croatian heritage. I’ve traveled widely and have found that Croatia and its people are mostly very cultured, open, compassionate and intelligent. Anyway, I’ve digressed from my central purpose here and that is to state genetics don’t matter. i.e. It does not determine a person’s overall character. The racist ideology of predeterminism that your comments reek with went out of academic fashion with the pseudoscience Craniology. That’s circa 1850 to those spaced-out space rockers out there. So enuff, with your embarrassing ignoramus jibes sk. You need to reinvigorate your flaccid racist brain cells by reading Stephen Jay Gould’s “The Mismeasure of Man”. You might learn something new about ‘race’. Like, there is only one for starters… So until you realise this, your posturing as an egalitarian, enlightened human being is pure shite. You is just plain U-G-L-Y sk, and you definitely ain’t got no alibi.

Hopefully, apart from shoveling your crap back onto your turf where it belongs, I trust my post has helped redress the fallacies you’ve peddled. Sk you are a total wanker. You can stick them racist comments where the sun don’t shine. Furthermore, as a fellow vegan, I’d like to highlight that your racist comments detract from the “enlightened” stance claimed by the vegan/vegetarian movement. Do us a favour and don’t promote your affiliation with veganism/ vegetarianism. You do us a disservice.

    From An Ex-Church devotee.

PS My brother’s wife is English. But I won’t hold that against her. Unlike you, I don’t judge people on their ethnicity…It might have been cool to denigrate people back in the 60s, 70s & 80s but it ain’t hip nowadays…SK you are so uncool, you are a complete dag…my condolences to your remnant fan base. Next time I play something off Nick Cave’s “Kicking Against the Pricks” album I’ll think of The Bullshit Artists formally known as The Church….

What a fucking hot headed Rant,
From a person brave enough to try a character assassination but not to put thire name to it!

Did I say SK was racist when he gave less than positive opinions about playing in Ireland. No – I respect someone’s right to like or dislike anywhere.

He said he wasn’t out to have a go at anyone – lighten up dude! Stick on Back with Two Beasts and relax and forget about being hyper sensitive. And I like your people for what it’s worth!

And furthermore – stick your “pseudoscience Craniology” where your pretentious comments don’t shine before you come here calling the SK a wanker.

You become what you disparage by trading back personal insults.
This is a blog – you read it for what it is – one man’s comment.
You don’t agree – fine – don’t give is this shit.

Peace and sympathy – in defence of the Killa!

You are a glib, navel-gazing, name dropping arsehole. if only you’d stop soiling these comments with your tripe.

    Shut up, please!

You cannot comprehend what being Croatian means to Croatians and what living in their country has been like.

No really, shut up. You are an out and out crawler and a tedious and ill-informed one at that. SK is not right ALL THE TIME ABOUT EVERYTHING.

The only loser here is YOU.

Captain Loco, if it weren’t for the Croats, there would be no European Union to speak of today; we weren’t referred to as “Antemurale Christianitatis” for nothing. Anyway, there’s only so much Rococo, sandstone and decrepit buildings a person can handle seeing in one lifetime. I’d rather have unbridled access to an ancient Redwood forest, the African savannah, Zanzibar’s coastline or a Patagonian dreamscape. However, Croatia will get EU membership in 3 or 4 years. Can we now drop the subject and shit-slinging, it’s boring.
