hello
i know you come here
to get away from it all
to relax
you dont wanna here about troubles
famines viruses
so im just gonna give a brief mention
to the 18 afghanis
who died yesterday
blown to bits
men
WOMEN
AND CHILDREN
AND CHILDREN
they may
or may
not have been hanging
with a guy
who may or not have been
a bona fide villain
im sure the children knew little about all that
they were probably living in some inconceivable
squalor
in some shack
how the fuck would i know
anyway
they were all blown away
to kingdom come, baybee
yeah
and probably more too
children that is
in some pathetic dirty hospital
with burns
blown off limbs
their childlike hopes and dreams
destroyed
im sorry to bring y’all down with this
i should just write a little poem for ya
we can all pretend this aint happ’ning
people
have ya ever heard of the hydra
for every head ya cut off
2 grow back
now i may be just a fuckin washed up olde rocker
who knows absolutely nuthin
bout foreign affairs, politics
terrorism
etc
but i know this
if someone blew my village away
if someone blew my daughters away
my soft delicate children
whose every hair and freckle i know
and hold precious
if some drone bomber
fell on my mother
and some smart bomb
blew my fuckin family
to smitha fuckin’ reens
i
i would drop everything i was doing
i would dedicate whatever energies
whatever gumption
strength
wherewithal
whatever
to get even
revenge
how come i can see that
im sure you can see it
and then some grinning
lying WORM
will appear on tely
talking freedom
liberty
and quoting FUCKING JESUS CHRIST!
to justify these ATROCITIES
all for our sake
for peace
for democracy
im sorry
im ranting
and im crying
who will tell those peoples story?
who will compensate their families?
who have killed more INNOCENT CHILDREN
the fuckin; “terrorists”
or the goode guys?
the allies?
the white middleaged alpha males
who have already turned the 21st century
into another bloodbath
same as the last one
same as the one before that
how can we go on
watching our sport
rocking in the free world
having our little worries
feathering our fuckin’ nests
im sorry
bush
blair
and the sorry little twat
called howard
me, i disconnect from you
what could i write here?
where are the words to summon up
the contempt
the rage
the cripplin’ fuckin helplessness
that i feel
when you worms
cowardly lying
rotten bloodthirsty
fuckers who have never
fought or been shot at
whose families are always nice and safe
i tell ya fiendss
my dad was in the 2nd world war
and he saw killin’
and he saw bloodnguts
but no glory
and he never could bring himself to fuckin kill a fly after it
was all over
so when you see the inevitable consequences
when something nassty happens in “the free world”
remember
hate will only ever beget hate
love is the way
but i fuckin hate bush
and hitler
and stalin
and fuckin blair howard
cheney
kitchener
napoleon bonaparte
and whoever
and i would gladly
beat everyone of em over the head with mah fuckin fender basse
if i got the chance
if there is a hell
if there is a realm of hungry ghosts
if there is punishment
if karma exists
if there IS an equal reaction
man..
then their gooses are cooked
please lord shiva
please satan
please tash
please dark malevolent spirits
who swallow the souls of
childkillers and cowards
TAKE THESE MEN TO YOUR BLACK HEARTS
i petition you this
im sorry
i cannae stand it
fuck poetry
fuck music
fuck tv
fuck your little job and yer mortgage
how can we pretend this shit aint happning?
ok
im sorry
dont fuckin write me a comment saying stick
to what you know, olde bean
ok
normal service may be resumed tomorrow
i love you guys
thanx for listening
i had to get it off my chest
i am a human being
every mans death diminisheth me

get what ever you want off your chests – its your diary – and you are human – its scary what is happening – i know i’m worried

i look at my kids some days and worry what kind of world is being left for them – what can be done – i search for an answer

the media uses words like collaterall damage and friendly fire – all at a distance – not through the eyes of a child

me personally – i try to stay optimistic – although this is hard in the face of such reality

the actions and beliefs of current world leaders and many in the corporate world is based on non rational beliefs and practices – and a world of infinite resources that does not exists –

let off all the steam you want – speak your mind –

Kilbey I respect your comments. Some of them are justifed, but the “Extremist” Islam is just as guilty as Bush, Blair, and Cheney. Dont forget dear ole’ Saddam. He killed damn near as many humans as Adolph.
    War is no good.

I think people feather their nests and focus on jobs because it’s easier that way — who has any control over their leaders? Too hard to think about that. Children in Afghanistan? Too hard.

Also too easy in some ways to put oneself in that position. I do it all the time. Called ‘catastrophising’. Faced with all kinds of tragedy in the media, daily, it is easy enough to imagine awful things happening to one’s own kids.

On the other hand, what sort of hair gel? Easy peasy. No pain, no suffering. No wonder everyone wants to think about hair gel.

you can/should write whatever you want here… it’s yer blog.

it is disgusting what is going on… and yes, only made more disgusting by insulting everyone’s intelligence by claiming it’s in the name of ‘freedom’ and ‘good v. evil’. they’ve hijacked religion and they’re bombin people to bits with it. i wish i could apologize for all americans, but unfortunately… only about 50% disagree. how is that? it’s truly frightening. but, there has to be some karma… we have to believe that or we’ll club ourselves over our own heads with our fender basses(in my case, cheesy ludwig vistalite drums).

There is no difference between the good and the bad, they are all pretty ugly.
The innocent are the casualty of war, any war in any time, i don’t even know what they are fighting over anymore, who cast’s the first stone, whose god is on whose side and where does it end?
God is dead, possibly of grief, maybe he or she went on to better things, divine intervention, not a chance, waiting for godot, you’re call is important and blah blah blah.
Yet we continue to vote for these people, these people who make war not love are only empowered because we let them, we give them that power, they represent us, me and you, brothers and sisters, so who’s responsible then?
    Who takes responsibility?
I didn’t vote for Howard and I never will. I voted Lathem because he inspired me and he had good taste in music. Look what they did to him.
Orwells 1984 is my 2006 no difference, only we have bigger and flatter tv sets.
There is no escape from this anymore, we have sold our future and our childrens future down the drain for the cheaper morgage, the holes in the atmosphere don’t distingush ideology. Make your peace with your gods, face the inevitable, go down fighting, bite the hand that feeds you bullshit, make art, and make love. Fuck the rest of them.

hate begets hate, fire on fire blood on blood ,love on love ,fear on fear.the straights have no understanding.this type of funky breeding will prevail as long as money is their soveriegn king.,as long as horendous robots are the role models.the young fresh minds can not help but soak all this up .they are taught to see it as the norm.all “the aware “can do is stay aware!i for one {as much as my biology would like to}would never bring another sentient being into this pathetic hell that they have created.i feel for you man!i wish we could band together and make it all better but they would hunt us down and do the same to us. all we can do is stay aware.love ,peace, stillness, and light to u and your kin!

For all the frighened rightwingers and war apologists.

    Death Walks Behind You

    Death walks behind you
    Death walks behind you
    Death walks behind you
    Death walks behind you

Lock the door switch the light
    You feel so afraid tonight
    Hide away from the bad
Count the nine lives that you had

Start to scream shout for help
There is no-one by your side
    To forget what is done
Seems so hard to carry on

    Death walks behind you
    Death walks behind you
    Death walks behind you
    Death walks behind you

You have expressed quite clearly the pointlessness of the ‘war on terror’ and the frustration that many of us feel at our governments for choosing these paths. I hope you will always be allowed to voice those concerns.

Bless you, SK. You’ve made me think, cry and now I’d like to see some action.

    Love,

I think and say these things everyday…to co-workers…fellow musicians…strangers….sometimes its dangerous but it is the least you or i or anybody can do as we sit back in our cosy homes….indeed we owe it to those who are suffering……

To MR (comment) I pray for you Steve, from yesterday.

The very reason I dig SK and The Church and many others, is because unlike most of the crap fed to us by the mainstream, its an alternative and great art, rather than just mere entertainment, there’s some spirit, soul and wit behind it etc, its one of my own little releases.
I check out this blog because steve does sometimes have a different perspective with I find interesting.
Did he not write the lyric in 1987 directed towards the US, something like ‘wear a gun and be proud, but bare breasts aren’t allowed. I think the guy is aware and understands whats going on Wr(on)g.
To Mr High (actually probably not high) and mighty I pray for you steve, please lecture somewhere else, you kinda brought everyone down yesterday, and when people get down they usually at some point get angry.
Really I think most fans know about the whole drug thing, but you know that’s one musician guy among thousands and if he’s into deep inner space exploration, through that means, rock and roll, I dig the albums.
I think there’s a song by the church for almost every emotion I’ve had and I’m truly grateful for that, helped me chill, got through periods of loneliness, got me inspired, helped me find love etc.
That’s why we come here or listen to the music, to get a little refuge from what’s going on outside, in the big bad world, doesn’t mean we don’t understand. I think most if not all reading the blog, know whats happening out there.
Another thing its amazing how one guy from yesterday managed upset so many people, ever heard of tongue and cheek, all he said was drop two mushrooms and read me tomorrow, are you telling me this is the only guy who every mentioned drugs, switch on your TV, see a film of walk into a record store, I think you’d be suprised.
Anyway, steve thank you very much for making me feel less alone when I needed it, I’m sure there have been times when I wanted to jump out of my 20th floor office window, but had a pair of headphones and a church album waiting for me at home to chill with, in the darker periods.
PS Did you know Robert Hill the Aust Defense Minister dodged the draft during the vietnam, bet his kids are all tucked up nice and safe. And Fuck you Alexander Downer, no help from DFAT when one of my close family members was blown and killed up in Bali Oct 2001.
    Thats my rant over!

Turn down the gravity it’s all to heavy.

Its a actually a really nice day outside, book, headphones, isidore/BWTB, sunscreen, deckchair, yep.
Hope your day is as good as mine!

There’s so much here worth preserving, something promising underneath all the muck. It may all come to a horrible end but until then we’ve got to do what we can to keep the heart of it ticking. If we just listen surly we can work it out and our part in it. It’s would be nice to think that there will be a cosmic balance to all the destruction, but I don’t think it works that way. The problem is in all of us, find it, listen to it and understand where it all starts. Then hopefully there’s a chance to help stem the flow. Sk’s blog is pulling in interesting and interested voices. Participating in this whole blog thing is an opportunity to help wake ourselves up and maybe others, who knows. Everything little thing is a part of the process.

Steve, I dont think I’ve ever seen you on such an emotional rant about a tragedy before and its kinda nice to see that side of you. Fucking heartfelt. Makes me angry every day… feels good to get it off your chest. Sad thing is we’re all dead guilty of not really getting off our butts to do something really constructive about it. Good to be reminded. I’ve always valued the fact that your music isnt directly political or preachy but hey flower child, maybe you should take over where John Lennon left off.

    Well said SK

You know my mom experienced WWII
as a young child growing up in France when the Nazis invaded,
she saw the war through the eyes
of a child, she lost her mother and
    several friends.
She too will not even kill a spider
    to this day.
But she raised us her kids in the
USA to hate no one she is the most
    peace loving person I know.
It’s too bad that one generation
can’t learn from the last one.

Peace & love & truth always….let’s channel that righteous anger in supporting grassroots movements that foster decency and protection of human rights….let’s promote and get an International Court of Law up and running and send all the war criminals i.e. Blair, Howard, Bush et al to the Hague for crimes against humanity!…if either you or Geoffrey Robertson QC run for PM I’ll vote for ya!!! xxxx

Iraq is phonied up on false intelligence, but really about control of the mid-east.
I have no solution for wars. who does? Impeach your regiimes for these mega mistakes. Hilary will run, but that’s far off.
Pour more love out, make more art, films, music….
A terrorist who surrounds himself with children, don’t tell me he didn’t know the rebellion wouldn’t find him. God bless the innocents.
Not many people would say “I’d revenge with you, for your girls”. Just words and emotions, but I think we’re fairly safe.
God bless everyone (with forgivness) who dies in wars and natural catastrophies…..

Gravity bears a heavy weight. It is just the way it is down here. If it isn’t the poets and songwriters and painters and dancers and playwrites and storytellers and sculpters and quiltmakers who are going to express the truth and sadness and beauty and horror and santurary and craziness that encompasses us, if it isn’t they who lead us to a new vision, a different viewpoint, a change for the better, a change for the different, a change for the good, a change for the sake of change, if isn’t they who inspire us to love and hate and think and react and mobilize and shout and scream and cry and forgive and lust and sleep . . . then who is? Our leaders? No . . . they just want us to serve their cause. Gravity bears a heavy weight. And sometimes it works its way into your soul. It is just the way it is down here.
