Steve- Sat. nght hear in Chicago. Ur havn way to much fun with the webcam. The song is amazing. Love ur video effect. As always, u and the boys r right in time. I laugh at all the nonsene create by the artists of today. some try so hard-most do not try hard enough. See u on April 15 at Park West in Chicago. 12 time is a charm. enjoyed every moment. b well and safe.
you blow my mind, sir…..me wills be lining up for the new ep….
have a great week, ok? enjoy the beach and have some hot chips or something….
Yeah, great sounding song sk!, can we ossies get a copy somehow too or is it just for the usa peoples?
Thanks for the vids below too, but they're still a bit too fuzzzzzzyyyyy
Excellent Cut as always Stevemeister! Can't wait to get me hands on this EP!
What a treat!!I hope this goes on sale at Merch for those of us in blighty to purchase!
The big question….will the EP be coming out for general sale for us poor souls in countries you probably won't tour? Although if you play Barcelona I'd be happy to help organise…….!
Beautiful easy listening track you got there SK, but I part of the fun of listening to these musical vids you provide from time to time is that we can never really guess what it’s gonna sound just from the title. I know I’ve said it before, and no doubt will repeat if in the future, but one of the most fascinating things about your work is that it’s always predictably unpredictable, and I love it!
Mmmm. Delicious. I like Dakota much better than the songs on the Operetta EP.
Surprises me that you haven't had more of your art out on the merch table Steve. Lugging fragile pastel drawings across the states sounds like too much to look after but printed postcards of your work may be an idea? I noticed MWP had some postcards of photographs he'd taken. The visual side of the music is a vital part of what you do.
Really great sounding track. Has a very strong melancholic vibe. Love the percussion. Love the vocals, lyrics, guitar, the interesting plucks at the start of the song (the strings past the bridge of the guitar?). Looking forward to grabbing this at upcoming shows.
smooth and creamy Mr. Kilbey. We'll be seeing you and the boys in Madison April 14th. It ain't Oshkosh, it ain't Shank Hall, but it's still Wisconsin and we're excited. Welcome!
I enjoyed this song and the way you sang it in the vid very much. All these recent videos have been really cool. So imaginative! I especially like the ghost in the garden one.
"Smooth and creamy" yeah nice description. xxx
i notice ye olde mellotron has become a regular part of the churches sonic palette…..inducing much creaminess indeed!nice vox as usual mainman.
great song! very cool! can't wait to hear it on proper speakers, with all its layers and vibes.
deadwood eh? i did a story in dakota oncedeep in the badlandswhere perspectives are skewedtime is aslantand everything you think you see is something else
it's a strange sorta placei never expected that
love it love it love it!!
Can't. Get. Enough!
Ooooh. It feels like Dakota. Strange place indeed, especially the western end. Its distance from any ocean/sea and the unusual topography lends a peculiar essence, for sure.
I agree with Ryan's assessment of the badlands' austerity and other-worldliness. I travel through often and each time I complete the pass I feel a pleasant sense of relief.
I found myself singing this song in the shower this morning. It's filtered through into my subconscious. I really love where you and the band are at with your songwriting right now.
Dakota, I wrote your name on the fields in the skyAnd this road don't take me…
Dakota, I brought you flames just to light up your eyeBut this fire don't get me warm
Dakota, I showed your frame to some old crooked guyBut his dough don't pay me off
and I fight for youand I lie for you and I haunt for you just like you want me to
and I freeze for youand I please for you and I fold for you just like you told me to
The soldier, he sold you the same worn out old lieBut those words don't make much sense
He told ya he'll hold ya safe til the day that you dieBut this life don't seem to end
Dakota, I wrote your name on the fields in the skyAnd this road don't take me home
Got my aces an eights Man I just uh laid 'em straight Put 'em on the table downon the frosty groundAnd all the people stoppedYeah the moon shone goodThe sky turned blackJust like the DeadwoodDakota
