i can’t wait for the 6 guest guitarists for lustre and the minneapolis viking association on stage (with helmets n beards) for the disillusionist chorus. SK, this is actually the first time in my life i think about going to the us. never wanted to go there. but 3 albums make me think about that olde proverb with the mountains n prophets.

PS – is constant complaining about unchurched europe considered bickering?

Can’t wait to hear priest=aura live. It is going to be bodacious, astonishing, awe-inspiring, majestic, grand, mind-blowing and downright FUN!!!! I put under the milky way on repeat today and must have listened to it 40 times today. I am going to learn some of the other songs too before the show. Long live The church and kilbey!!!! Love ya man.

    Yours Truly,
    Doogie H.

PS. For some of you older mellow types like myself, Bread is doing a limited show reunion tour and I highly recommend checking it out. Original lead guitarist is doing his first show in the past two decades!!!Yea!! Keep rockin’ everyone.

      Doogie,

I have ‘Space Saviour’ and ‘On Angel Street’ on constant play for the past week. U23 is a great album, there is so much to uncover with each and every listen. And SK’s vocals on the track ‘On Angel Street’ gives me chills, he has that dramatic sense of hopelessness down to a science on this piece- makes Bono wish he could just sit in on a session(my opinoin folks, early Bono was uncomparable to almost everyone). Every time I hear the line, regarding the voice on the answering machine, I think of, with the grace of almighty, that I never will have to feel that sad…ever. Genius !!!

      AsAlways,
      Darrin K.

Bono is ok to me as a singer, otherwise, frankly speaking, he is a tad bombastic but I do not mean to be too critical.

        Yours Truly,
        Doogie H.

Congratulations on the 14th being made possible. Good luck with the rehearsals and well done putting a stop to the bitchy attacks/bickering. Life is way too short! I don’t want to read negative shit on other contributors nor do I want to be attacked for thinking I’m too clever, too stupid or whatever. Good move! L x

    13. And it came to pass that the barbarians rose and laid waste the capital city and all the inhabitants thereof. The great dome did crumble as the people pled mercilessly, an eager supplication to their gods to grant them salvation and reprieve from this treachery. But their gods did not hear them and the fires burned hot, brighter than noonday. Screams
filled the smoke soaked air, a suffocating mist laced with misery and woe. Despair consumed the city as the invading horde marched on granting release unto one and all.

    14. Such a tragedy was this, a noble people who once trumpeted the skies with hymns of sanctification and redemption, now a faceless mass of decaying flesh without beginning or end. Forsaken now in the time of need, cries as fading whispers asking “why the pain, why me?”

Cate and I got Tickets to the Opera House gig on Monday. Flying from WA for our 50th birthday present to each other. Going to see THE CHURCH and we can’t wait. Fly in Sunday and fly out Monday and hoping to catch up with Sue C to celebrate her birthday as well. From Countdown in a small mining community in NW WA a long time ago to Sydney via FB, TTB, Settlers Tavern, Busselton and the Quarry. If we had the means we would travel to the US as well. Take care Steve and we’ll see you in April.

    Love Celticat and Cate.

Good morning!! I like that “KIDS, I MEAN IT!” look of yours in today’s shot…reminds me of my dad when he used to tell me and my sisters to quit arguing. Five girls in almost as many years…can you imagine?! (I suppose you can!)Constant state of emergency!!

I guess i just assumed things were somewhat true – somewhat imaginary(therefore, the jokes…). You have already reminded us that the things you write are “nebulous”, as well as “true dream story blog lie exaggeration, etc. etc.” I have already figured out that you keep the private stuff private.

Well, my life ain’t exactly a bed of roses, either, and I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll be able to make the date on Feb. 18 in Foxboro. It ain’t looking good. For all you praying people out there, say a prayer that God will make this do-able for me! Ciao!! Lotsa love to all!!

    SK:

Glad you’re bringing it back to the States. Gonna be a great year. Would love to see you add that date in North Carolina, how about hippie/ music mountain town Asheville? The Orange Peel would be a great venue, ole Bob played there few years ago. Check out their website by searching under “Orange Peel Asheville”, and you’ll see what I mean. You would have a big crowd turn out there, would be good stop before Greenville.

All best. Appreciate the right half of your brain, you spin off a lot of mystery and joy.

    Ah, ah.

It’s gonna be an amazing tour! I’ve wanted to hear Priest=Aura live for years. And Destination is another favourite I’ve never heard live. Really looking fwd to it.

Still in Japan for the new year holiday. I was forced to go to karaoke last night, and to my absolute shock and dismay there wasn’t a single Church song in the catalog. I was unable to participate – through sheer disgust of course, but also because there was nothing else in the “foreign songs” collection that I could remember word for word lol. Then again, I suppose you could be thankful that I wasn’t given the opportunity to butcher your fine words…

Happy to be be here Steve.

I hope your kids had an amazing adventure in Sweden. I am sure you all missed each other terribly. Looking forward to Premo Stevo and the tour. 3 albums to rehearse, man are we lucky fans. The Church are truly dedicated to their fans for bringing this tour to life. As far the true or false thats what makes this so enjoyable to read everyday, like song lyrics they are open to the listeners/readers interpretation.

    See you soon,

    Jason

really hoping I can see this tour. very interested in hearing PAura live. I’ve been playing some Church tunes on piano lately. Need to learn more. I just watched a movie called Food,Inc (recent film, can be viewed on youtube). Very well done, and powerful film about the current food industry.
I am sure you are loving the rehearsal 🙂

Did you know… that when words are misconstrued by people, unless it is because of lack of understanding/knowledge (which is an absolute valid reason), it is usually on purpose for purpose… Why did I speak then? It is so refreshing when you know someone knows the true unimportance of events… and so, starting sentences with, “did you know” is fun sometimes because then people might respond, “yes, I did!” and if you’re lucky, they add further stuff you didn’t know… and then it becomes an important event.

sK- good luck with the rehearsals, I am channeling all my positive energy … over land and sea … to Tim. The incredible work that Jay accomplished on P=A is simply mesmerising. If there is a percussionist that can duplicate and add some personal flare to that masterpiece, its Time the Time Bandit. There is no other drummer, besides Richard, that can pull it off.

Good Luck… and great news about the lovely ladies in your life coming home soon. Wishing you the best in every way, shape, and form.

That’s so cool!! I cannot wait to see you in Chicago!!! I MIGHT even get to see the L.A. show…depends on my little brother.

Anyway, it’s funny how one can forget one’s own songs!! I do actually know what that’s like. My band was sort of “broken up” (“unoffically”)for almost 4 years (boy, time flies); and then recently, very cosmically, we actually got together again. In a way, it’s better than ever really. We simply realized that despite all the bullshit a band/friends can go through, we must finish what we started. When our record actually really and truly is finished, it will be a HUGE achievement for me…even if people think it sucks! (Hope not though!!) Ha-ha! So, when we first hooked up to “feel it out” in a way it was like we never stopped playing; on the other hand there were times when I totally spaced on some of the tunes. It’s just weird how you can forget lyrics, changes, arrangement, etc…then, like magic, it all comes back to ya! 🙂

So, anyway, SK, you know I love and respect ya, and whatever is going on in your personal life, I just sincerely wish you the very best, and hope ALL is well for you and your loved ones.

Take care of yourself and we’ll see you and the gang in our neck of the woods very soon. Travel safe and stay healthy and well.

    Forever your friend and student,

    Ben V.

hey SK, are you guys going to play the whole entire album of P=A including “Nightmare”, “Fog”, “Drought”, and “Unsubstantiated”, these inquiring minds want to know??? and in my opinion “The Disillusionist” and “Lustre” are my favourites off of this album and please no more bickering between the church army, we are all in this army together…

For me Jonny…its “Old Flame-Chaos-Film” , Those are my three favorite songs of all time. Church wise and everything else. The mood of those songs quietly build to a furious onslaught, brought down to earth to tremble…alone and then ‘film’ finishes you off. It stands the test of time.

Agreed, P=A is dense enough as it is (so amped for this) and U23 is PERFECT the way it is but what about Stardust, Dakota, and The Garden from the Deadman’s Hand EP? You probably have too much material to cover as it is but have to say that those songs are every bit as good as the rest of U23! I still cannot believe I got that free with my 30th Anniversary Ticket.

I’m so jealous of all who are lucky enough to see The Church in your state. What’s up with missing Minneapolis on this tour….I thought you always came here. If I was feeling better I’d try to make Chicago, but doubtful. I’ll keep watching the blog to see if by miracle any other cities get added. And I’ll also keep watching for good movie advice; not much else to do in this frozen tundra.
